After the post-recording of “MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN I Blue-Eyed Casval,” we got some comments from all the cast members.。



Tell us how you felt when you were offered this role.
A period of 35 years has passed from Casval to Char Aznable, and to play my resurrected sworn friend again as a new character is so fortunate and nerve-wracking that I can’t stop my hands from shaking.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
It reminded me of “First Gundam” – that indescribable tension in the studio. I fully enjoyed sharing it with all the other performers again.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
Lieutenant Char. It was his first time in the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, so I performed with that in mind.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
“Yasuhiko World” – everyone will experience a “Gundam” never seen before. I myself am also extremely excited to see it completed! Please look forward to it!!
Tell us how you felt when you were offered this role.
When I heard that I’d passed the audition I was simply so overjoyed! But the next instant I felt the weight of the fact that I -- a newcomer to Gundam -- would be playing Char (Mr. Shuichi Ikeda) as a child, and I was nervous.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
Maybe it was the tension, but even though I didn’t say that much, I was exhausted.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
I tried not to give what they call an over-exaggerated performance… or so I intended. I’m often told I do that…
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I hope you enjoy Casval as a boy!!

I shivered. With both tension and excitement.
Still, I think the excitement won out. And at the same time, I felt it was a true honor. To be playing an important part of her, something that would connect to Sayla.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
My body was taken over by an indescribable sensation. It felt like more time than it actually was. It didn’t feel “long” but “deep.”
In spite of that, it was over so soon. It still feels like a dream.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
The cast of characters live their lives while hiding the true feelings, thoughts, and desires within their hearts. You could say Artesia is just about the only one among them who lays it all bare.
So when she’s happy or sad, or she wants to do this or that, I tried to frankly set my heart to be that way. (Oh, but “trying” to be frank makes things no longer so frank…)
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I feel it was a real honor to be able to speak as Artesia after all this time. I’ll walk the path alongside her, and with everyone else I’ll try my best to pass on their hopes and wishes. I’ll commit to this with gratitude and respect, so that my actions will not shame the name of Gundam and its history. Please watch over “MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN.”

To exaggerate, it felt like a huge mountain suddenly loomed up in front of me.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
Mr. Yasuhiko said something to me. He said, “The character of Degwin Zabi is not an evil man. He is actually a fine person.” Those words resounded powerfully in my heart, and they deeply affected me.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
I myself don’t come close to the size of the character Degwin Zabi, but I tried to feel that inside the veteran general’s heart he’s neither purely just nor purely evil, and I re-read the original comics.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
It’s a grand story with powerful imagery…
I performed it with all my heart, in the hopes that everyone from longtime fans of this work to newcomers will be emotionally moved anew. Thank you for your support.

Well, nostalgic. But, at my age…

Maybe like, “This is anti-aging exercise… post-recording style.” Hmph!
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
To be Gihren to the fullest.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
The Zabi family is scary.

I really had no idea that I would get the part.

Well, I felt like I’d given it my all, so I was relieved.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
I wanted to express the strength and the transience of the Zabi family as human beings.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I think this will be the work you’ve all been waiting for, so get ready for it!

To be honest, it was chaos… joy and anxiety…
I was overflowing with so many different emotions…
But what an honor!!
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
I was pretty nervous, so it felt like the time had passed in the wink of an eye. Right now, I don’t know how much I was able to play Dozle in my own way, so I feel very anxious. (forced laughter)
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
Well, he’s kind of awkward, and somehow adorable.
I was careful not to make him simply frightening.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
“THE ORIGIN” is about to explode! It’s time to get excited!

I was honestly, like, “Huh? Really?” (laughs)
After hearing that I’d been picked as Kycilia, I wondered for a while if I wasn’t dreaming… (laughs) That’s about how surprised I was.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
I was a little bit nervous. But I realized, you gotta do what you gotta do!
As for my feelings once I was done… it’s a cliche, but it was fun!! I want to play Miss Kycilia again as soon as possible!
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
Miss Kycilia is a bad person. I kept that in my mind during my performance. I also tried to keep her as dignified as possible. When speaking with her older brother who sees through everything, that didn’t work out so well. (laughs)
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I believe I tried to portray the woman named Kycilia Zabi to the utmost of my ability. Thank you for your continued support.

I was surprised!
And at the same time, I also felt extremely nervous.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
I was on right from the opening! What’s more, it opened with an anguished scene that encompassed all these things that happened in the past. I worked very hard to express the content of that anguish as simultaneously real and symbolic.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
Make it as realistic as possible… that’s what I set as my goal.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I hope you’re all really excited for it!

I was genuinely surprised, like, “I really do have a fateful connection to Gundam!”
I thought the role of the mother of Casval and Artesia was a bracing change.
Tell us about your thoughts after you finished post-recording.
After a full day of recording, I felt relieved, and also had a real sense that it was finally beginning. I can’t help but look forward to seeing the completed work. (Also, the bento was delicious!)
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
She’s a woman in a difficult position, but I definitely didn’t make her frail.
And I also played her as being full of motherly love.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
It’s a profound drama with lots of complex human emotion in it.
Fans of the original comic, and people who’ve never encountered it, are both sure to enjoy it!!

I felt greatly honored, and enormously afraid at the same time. (sweats)

I felt… “It’s over.” And I felt… “It’s begun” at the same time. (laughs)
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
Well, I really dedicated myself to preserving my image of Ramba Ral -- he has to be a charismatic soldier that everyone would want to follow.
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
All the staff and all the cast are pouring our hearts into this project to make sure it is loved by long-time Gundam fans and newcomers to Gundam alike!!

I felt very grateful to be able to play a woman of such caliber.

I just pray for their safe journey to Earth.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
To be strong, kind, beautiful…well, this is a bit greedy, isn’t it? (laughs)
Do you have a message for everyone waiting for the release?
I really wish that everyone will love the Hamon I voiced…with all my heart.

It was so fun! I was deeply moved to be able to touch on the history of Zeon.
Was there anything in your performance that you were mindful of?
What was important for me was how weak and ridiculous perishing adults can be.
