Episode 4 Cast Comments
After the post-recording of "MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN IV: Eve of Destiny," we received some comments from all the cast members.

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
The original manga was wonderful, of course, but I think the anime is becoming an even greater breakthrough.

Meeting Lalah, and performing together with familiar actors, brought 0079 back to life again for a moment.
As the story continues, the time and situation change. Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of, or anything different from before?
The point was how to perform the transformation from Casval to Édouard, and then to Char Aznable.
Do you have a message for everyone awaiting the release of episode 4?
Thankfully, we were able to complete the final chapter of the "Chronicle of Char and Sayla." Please look forward to the further development of a man who has discarded his past, and is now Char Aznable.

Tell us how you felt when you were offered this role.
I felt a mixture of nervousness, pressure, delight, and many other emotions. There was also a feeling of gratitude that I would be able to participate in a work with so much history.

It felt like time was passing in a way totally different from my everyday sense of time, where a single day felt like an incredibly long time. However many days passed, the sense of tension and exaltation remained.
Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of?
I tried to convey politeness, while being mindful of her upbringing and the small details of her behavior.

The content of this work contains a strong power that can move the heart of the viewer. I hope you will come out to the theater and fully enjoy it.

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
I've watched every episode with real excitement and nervousness! Anyway, it was really moving, and there was such a wealth of character expressions. Naturally I loved the screenplay, but the music and all the expressions were definitely highlights as well!

This time, Ms. Kycilia was happy... (laughs) No, as usual, she was really scary. And the characters who will be caught up in the impending huge war also appeared, so I felt... "finally." This time I really gave my all in the post-recording, as I felt the passion of the veteran actors!
As the story continues, the time and situation change. Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of, or anything different from before?
Because Ms. Kycilia is steadily pushing forward for the sake of her own ideals... I was careful to express that she has these strong feelings.

Big things are in motion in episode 4. You can't overlook any of the scenes in this episode, either! Please wait a little longer until the release!

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
As the number of episodes increases, perhaps it's Char's true character, or his personality, or something like that, but something indescribably frightening is coming into view. And Mistress Kycilia is scary too, of course!

I rather forgot myself when I was surrounded by those three hoodlum soldiers!

I suppose that would be the gradual accumulation of age...

The mobile suit combat everyone has been waiting for, begins at last! Don't miss it!

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
Unfortunately I didn't appear in episode 3, but I was really astonished by how the previous two episodes retained the quality of the original manga, and I was also concerned that I mustn't betray the image of the fans as I participated in them.

After we finished recording the parts where the Black Tri-Stars appeared, the sound director came into the recording booth, and the first thing he said was, "Wow... it's hot in here." Sorry, I guess the three of us gave an intense performance. But I believe that's good if it conveys the heat of the story! And personally, it was incredible to have Mr. Toru Furuya, Mr. Toshio Furukawa, and Mr. Shuichi Ikeda all lined up in that same booth. As a fan of First Gundam, I could hardly stand it!
As the story continues, the time and situation change. Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of, or anything different from before?
Crude, rude, and intense… that's the Black Tri-Stars. They never change!

The biggest highlight is the fierce battle between the Zaku I and the Federation's Guncannons! And then there's the first mention of the word "Gundam" in the series. Fans of First Gundam, look forward to it!

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
Perhaps you could say that the world is heating up as it heads toward the One Year War, but it felt like the Universal Century was suddenly accelerating. Suddenly there were scenes everywhere that affected the course of history, and it felt like I was watching a historical drama or documentary.

I tried to put even more energy into it, as we finally depicted the first mobile suit battle in human history. The Black Tri-Stars play a major role, and it was a tremendous honor to fight alongside Char. It was a really enjoyable and stimulating recording!

To put my all into performing the arousal of Ortega's spirit. From Ortega's point of view, he feels, "Our time has finally come!" And both before and during the battle, I performed with the awareness that Ortega is making no effort to conceal his antagonism toward Char.

At last, the Chronicle of Char and Sayla reaches its climax! And then, the depiction of the mobile suit battle that everyone has been awaiting! Even in episode 1, there were MS combat scenes, but this time you'll see an even fiercer and more intense MS battle. Please be sure to enjoy episode 4, "Eve of Destiny," in which the drama and action both build to their peak!

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
With the incredibly careful and precise depiction of the character background and psychology, and the attention to human drama that doesn't waver for a moment, it was so enjoyable that to some degree I even forgot I was a performer in it!
Also, even though the images were incredibly beautiful, it had real impact and presence. Knowing that there will be even more combat scenes from now on, I'm getting more and more excited.

After the Black Tri-Stars' scenes, we'd put in so much intense energy that they said the temperature in the studio had risen three degrees! I think our teamwork as a trio is gradually improving, and we're having more fun performing in the process. From here on, we'll really be enjoying ourselves!
Also, I thought "Wow!" when I saw Mr. Toru Furuya as Amuro, Mr. Shuichi Ikeda as Char, and Mr. Toshio Furukawa as Kai all lined up together. And I thought "Whoa..." when I saw their unchanged performances.
As the story continues, the time and situation change. Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of, or anything different from before?
The Black Tri-Stars are always high-energy, so when I was yelling I had to be careful not to get too close to the other two. And while Mash respects Captain Ral, he also has some bitterness from when they were practicing, so I thought I should show a little bit of that this time.

At last, the war begins. Starting with General Director Yasuhiko, I think the entire staff and cast have given their all to create a passionate work! First of all, I absolutely recommend that you see it on the big screen of a movie theater. And then please be sure to look forward to the exploits of the Black Tri-Stars!

What did you think when you saw episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion"?
First of all, I was captivated by the beauty of the film, and drawn in by its realistic intensity. I experienced the anger within Char's (Casval's) cool-headed personality!

It's U.C. 0078. Amuro is now 15 years old, and when it came to his vocal age, I performed with gradually increasing confidence. I prepared anew for the role with the image of a contemporary "herbivore boy," both lazy and naïve.
As the story continues, the time and situation change. Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of, or anything different from before?
In episode 2, "Artesia's Sorrow," Amuro was 8. In episode 3, "Dawn of Rebellion," he was 13. In episode 4, "Eve of Destiny," he has grown to age 15. In my performance, I was concerned about giving him the natural voice for his age.

Amuro meets Fraw and Kai at Side 7. Meanwhile, Char meets Lalah on Earth. The gears of destiny begin to turn in episode 4, and I hope you'll look forward to it.

I remember that when I was performing a scene from the script for the audition, as I was beating my chest, I unintentionally burst into tears. I sincerely wondered whether I should have done it over again, and when I heard from my manager that they'd chosen me, I broke out in goosebumps. Since the manager was also a big Gundam fan (laughs), we cheered together.

There was such tension that I was shaking, but at the same time, it was so wonderful being in that studio that I was filled with happiness. I want to continue being immersed in that world...!
Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of?
There was a scene that really cohered because Mr. Furuya talked to me before the performance. The scene strongly reminded me of when I was a girl. Without Mr. Furuya's advice, I think my performance would surely have ended up being too frivolous. I can only admire the greatness of my senior actor. On the one hand, it's frustrating, but there's also pleasure in that frustration.

Once again, it's a wonderful human drama! It's also full of all sorts of developments that will get your heart racing. I hope you'll be sure to see it, and I want to see it too! Please look forward to it.

I was aware that there would be some changes in the casting, so I was very happy when I learned that I'd still be playing Kai Shiden in "MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN."

By fleshing out the previously undepicted parts of the story, and intensifying the drama, Gundam is becoming even more fascinating. I felt incredible joy that I was able to be involved in this landmark work.
Was there anything in your performance that you were particularly mindful of?
Whether I could perform so as not to spoil the image that all the fans have of Kai Shiden...

"THE ORIGIN" has become even more fascinating with its adaptation to film, and this work will not betray the expectations of everyone who is waiting for its public release. Please enjoy it!
